LOOKING AHEAD!
Happy Friday you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!
Guess what happens this weekend?

That's right, clocks will spring ahead one hour! So longer days and more sunshine! But before you spring ahead, don't forget to pause, find a comfy chair or couch find out what's coming up by clicking here @ Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter March 9 - 13 2026

It was a really great week of learning at our school, from our Pizza Party celebration for our patrollers thanks to Guelph Police Services; Mr. Cullen's Grade 5/6 class connecting with St. James students to experience the Stations of the Cross at the parish; our Grade 7s joining St. John students for a morning of engaging STEM activities; our Grade 8s concluding their Black Heritage studies by watching the movie, "Hidden Figures;" to our Director of Education, Michael Glazier's visit! We also had 2 "new" clubs start up at H.T. this week with some student leadership and organization. Thanks to Mrs. Stevens for allowing some junior students to start our first-ever Pickleball Club, as well as Mrs. Cazzola/Mr. Cullen for the Crochet Club! And there was soooo much more. Pretty cool Hurricanes!

We also gotta keep giving gratitude for OUR awesome school community! Although, the week ended pretty scary with some supposed dragons-in-the-house! What?@#$?! Well not really, it was actually some of our kindy classes celebrating the book and reading of the PAPERBAG PRINCESS. Therefore, as always, Hurricane staff and students got into the spirit and learning by dressing up in all kinds of costumes! So much fun!

Speaking of fun, learning and OUR school, we want to take this time to give attention to something that is really important to all of us! A the end of every WEEKLY newsletter message, we say "take care of yourselves and take care of each other!" But what does that really mean, and how does it look, sound and feel? Well, it means that in order to create the best, safest and most welcoming place to learn, work and play for our students AND staff - we have to remember that this can only happen when we work together and with each other.

In other words, it's a shared or COLLECTIVE responsibility! Another word synonymous with collective can be family, team, or better yet = "c-o-m-m-u-n-i-t-y." Community is so important for learning and growth to happen and it really takes a concerted, patient and generosity from all of us to build... it doesn't just happen on it's own!

And as we know, even families sometimes argue or forget how to collaborate or speak to one another. Therefore, we've been together for 7 months now and we're entering the final streeeeettttttcccchhhhh of the school year. It's been a long winter, everyone has worked so hard and we're all longing for warmer, longer days and some breaks ahead. There's also alot going on in our world and life seems to be increasing hard to raise a family. So with that said, we thought it would be a good time to remind each other that we still have a collective responsibility to EACH OTHER and to this community; that includes PARENTS + STAFF + STUDENTS + ADMINISTRATION to keep our community a safe, welcoming and respective environment - all for the sake and benefit of our young people.
So let's review the Ministry of Educations communication around expectations that are consistent with a safe learning and teaching environment;
