LOOKING AHEAD!
Happy Friday you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!
Well, we're standing between you and a LOOOONG WEEKEND! Therefore, we'll try to keep this week's Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter May 18 - 22, 2026 a bit shorter than normal, so you can maximize your time with whatever you are enjoying over the next 3 days! Maybe a trip, some family time or just some quiet time to relax! Whatever it may be, we wish you a fabulous long weekend and we will see everyone back on Tuesday, May 19th.

NATURALIZING OUR SCHOOL GROUNDS
Our week started with an amazing two days of HARD WORK, COLLABORATION and ACCOMPLISHMENT with our annual tree-planting project. We are so appreciative of Mr. Kelly and Mr. Schmaltz and the many intermediate student leaders who led the Hurricane charge! Classes buddied up together, got their hands dirty and will enjoy the beauty and splendor of the trees as they grow each year to make our school grounds even more beautiful! Now that's what it means to have a Heart-of-a-Hurricane!

CELEBRATING OUR HEART OF A HURRICANE RECIPIENTS FOR APRIL!
We celebrate our students for demonstrating character attributes and traits that help them in school, and certainly for LIFE! Over the months since September, we have witnessed and documented hundreds of wonderful acts from our young people showing SERVICE, BRAVERY, KINDNESS, LEADERSHIP, RECONCILIATION, GENEROSITY, FAIRNESS, COMPASSION and HOPE! It's unbelievable really - when you look for the good in people, there is always alot there! Congratulations to our 4 divisional winners who were picked and received a visit from our famous P-A-R-T-Y WAGON, full of airhead treats to enjoy! Congrats to Collyns D. (Kindergarten), Erik V. (Primary), Whole Class (Mrs. Stevens Gr.5s) and Julian V. (Intermediate)! You each have modelled for others what it means to have a HEART-OF-A-HURRICANE!

FINISH STRONG; FINISH PROUD!
The middle of our week brought tears to our eyes when our whole school cheered off our Special Olympic Athletes and their super Peer Coaches asd they ventured down to St. James Catholic High School to participate in this year's annual SPECIAL OLYMPIC FESTIVAL. Hundreds of participants from both the Wellington Catholic and Upper Grand School Boards gathered for a massive opening ceremony with a parade including the Mayor Cam Guthrie, members of the Guelph Police Services and other dignitaries. We couldn't be more proud of our Hurricane staff, student-athletes and peer coaches for being the best AMBASSADORS for our school. They were polite, proud, authentic, brave and joyful! Also, a very special THANKS goes out to all the classes that walked down during the school day to cheer their classmates on! That was soooo considerate and kind! As the Olympic Oath goes, "let me win, however if I cannot; let me be brave in the attempt." You are all WINNERS in our books Hurricanes! WE LOVE YOU!

EVERYTHING I LEARNED, I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN!
At Holy Trinity, we have 3 Kindergarten classes in our school and we without-a-doubt are blessed with the "best" three Kindergarten teams around! We couldn't be more lucky to have Mrs. Melehes & Mrs. Connor (ECE), Mrs. Jackett & Ms. SCHWENDE (ECE) and Mrs. Uyede & Mrs. Andovski (ECE) as our dynamic teams. On Thursday, May 28th, we will be welcoming "NEW" Kindergarten families for a Parent Information Evening to tell them all about our amazing school. And in June, our Kindergarten teams will welcome their children for a visit during the school day. So, if you know of a family who has a child yet to register, don't forget to let them know what a great place H.T. is and to contact us! This week, Mrs. Uyede and Mrs. Andovski's class welcomed some parents as part of their inquiry into COMMUNITY HELPERS! Thank you Officer Shannon, Chef Ryan and 911 Dispatcher Stephanie for taking the time to teach and inspire our young people about the work you do and more importantly, the people you help! The students loved it!!!

HURRICANE WELLNESS DAY A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS!
Our week culminated with finally, some really spring-like temperatures and sunshine! And with that, our WELLNESS CLUB led by our amazing Child and Youth Worker Mrs. Fountain, along with her superstar leaders, facilitated an engaging and purposeful H.T. WELLNESS DAY. Every class in the school participated in activities design to teach and help them practice wellness strategies to reduce anxiety, regulate emotions and overcome stress. Students enjoyed MINDFUL NATURE WALKS, DEEP BEATHING & BUBBLES, EMOTION CHARADES, DANCE PARTY and of course, the ever-popular "freezie" station! Thank you Mrs. Fountain and Wellness Club "Ninjas" for always caring for our Hurricanes and giving them the tools to be happy, safe and calm in school, and in LIFE!

UP & COMING "555" PARENT & CAREGIVER INFO EVENT
