LOOKING AT THE WEEK AHEAD!
Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter November 11-15, 2024-2025 "Just Released!"
Good day you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes! It's hard to believe we are already talking about the middle of November. With the changing of the clocks last weekend, we can certainly see the changing of the seasons from fall to winter quickly approaching!
On that note, many events COMING UP so please take a few moments to peruse through our Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter for November 11 - 15, 2024 by clicking this link Newsletter Nov 11-15 2024.pdf
A quick shout-out to our staff who always embrace the opportunities to connect the learning in our classrooms with the important and meaningful themes affecting our world today. During this past TREATY RECOGNITION WEEK, many of our classes participated in learning that helped our students dive into the history and significance of treaty rights and relations, and exploring how these agreements continue to shape our world today. These connections help our young people learn and grow to build a deeper understanding of our shared history and how they as our "future leaders," can help shape our world today! Visit our social media pages to see all the learning! Way-to-Go Hurricanes!
It's been 8 years now! November 16th is next weekend and that means, our 8th Annual Christmas Winter Market WILL BE HERE! Come on by to do some early Christmas shopping! There is a nice variety of vendors selling items at very reasonable costs. There will be some hospitality and treats so bring some loose change. All funds raised will be donated to our school's HEALTHY SNACK PROGRAM for our young people! The event takes place in the gymnasium. Hope many of you can make it out. A special Hurricane salute to Elise Ingram, for spearheading and organizing this community-building event!
The Positive Parenting Series continues! Wellington Catholic, in partnership with the Upper Grand District School Board and Pine River Institute for Family Initiatives, invite families to attend a webinar on "CELLPHONE and VAPING" on Thursday, November 21st, 2024. See poster below or CLICK HERE TO REGISTER... https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_m4vil6M0S2KM3Oet8blBJg#/registration.
Thank you to everyone for your support of our recent PROFESSOR JAMZ DANCE-A-THON FUNraiser and FUNDraiser! Hurricane families helped us to raise close to $5000 in donations and over $1500 in Cosmic Store purchases - that's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! We know times are tough for families too, but your generosity always shines through when we know our kids are the benefactors! Moreover, we also want to thank families who are making online donations via School Cash Online toward our HEALTHY SNACK PROGRAM. These donations are used to purchase yogurt, cheese, fruit, cracker and granola snacks for our students. The snack station operates everyday and "all" students are welcome to grab a snack if needed throughout the day to help give them a boost for learning and play!
Our focus next week, turns to all those who have served and continue to serve our country in keeping Canada a peaceful, internationally respected and free country. Families are welcome to join our REMEMBRANCE DAY Assembly taking place at 11:15am in our gymnasium on Monday, November 11th. Don't forget to bring some loose change as we will be distributing poppies to students. Thank you to our Grade 7s who will be leading our reverent and reflective liturgy.
Again, we look forward to seeing as many of you possible at our Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 14th from 3:40-6:40pm! Also, another reminder that Initial Communication of Learning (Kindergarten students) and Progress Report Cards (Grade 1-8 students) will be emailed to families directly ("new") on Tuesday, November 12th.
Finally, please take a moment to read this letter from the City of Guelph regarding ADULT CROSSING GUARDS + EXTREME WEATHER POLICIES.

To conclude, as we begin to enter these shorter and darker days towards winter, let it be a physical reminder of the invitation and challenge that exists for each and everyone of us, "TO BE THE L-I-G-H-T FOR OTHERS!" At the same time, let it remind us that we are all flawed in one way or another. Each of us has scars or cracks in our history and in our lives. However, God reminds us repeatedly through the Gospels, that His light will always shine through those cracks or be reflected by those who choose to help Him - by helping others! So keep being that light for others Hurricanes, keep being CHRIST for others. Our young people need our example everyday... As we say to our young people, try each day to;
1. See God in all things...
2. See God in all people...
3. Love God through all things and through all people...
Have an awesome weekend Hurricanes! And keep S-H-I-N-I-N-G YOUR LIGHT!
