Hurricane "WEEKLY" Newsletter for October 30th - November 3rd, 2023

Good afternoon you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!

Please find attached, our HurricaneWEEKLYHurricane Newsletter for October 30th – November 3rd, 2023.  That’s right, it’s already November, can you believe it?!

Some reminders for this up-and-coming week;

  1. Please submit your Professor Jamz ENVELOPE donations by Monday, October 30th if your child has collected cash or cheques. ONLINE donations can continue until Tuesday, October 31st.  Also, make sure your child wears as much white as possible on Monday, October 30th so they “glow-in-the-dark” at the dance!  The COSMIC STORE will be open all day if you did not already order online, cash-only please.  Thanks for all your support with this school-fundraiser Hurricanes, it is immensely appreciated!

  1. Please, please, please consider attending our guest speaker, Michael Jacques on Monday, November 20th @ 6:30-7:45pm in our Holy Trinity Faith Center. This is truly a story-to-be-shared, a perspective and lived experience that will inspire all about BELONGING, PERSEVERANCE and HOPE!  Let’s fill that room! Details in the attached poster.  Pre-registration required @ https://forms.office.com/r/FktCLhq99B

  1. We recently had our school bell chimes synched with the correct time, since they were off for a bit. IMPORTANT: A warning bell for students to line up and get ready to enter the school rings at 8:43am.  At 8:45am, we enter the school and start our day.  BE ON TIME HURRICANES!  The dismissal bell rings @ 3:15pm.  With the winter season approaching, please ensure you are giving yourself adequate time for travel and of course, help remind our young ones about the importance of dressing for the variability in weather, we know we are constantly exposed to.
  1. As a follow-up to last week’s summary of Halloween Activities, a reminder that costumes can be worn up until 2nd Nutrition/Recess Break (12:50pm) on Tuesday, October 31st. At that time, educators will have students change into their regular clothes following the Pep-Rally and Parade and pack up the costumes so they are not damaged and are ready to go for the evening.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING AN EXTRA BAG for this reason.

Following the festivities of Halloween and the Professor Jamz Dance, help us transition our students to the important focus of REMEMBRANCE during the Month of November, starting with our Poppy Campaign. We need to give gratitude and commemorate those who GAVE or continue to GIVE their lives in-service to freedom and protection of our great country.  On November 1st, we remember the lives of all saints, and how they emulated or reflected God’s unconditional love in the world.  Like the saints, God also wants us to be his head, heart and hands  for the world!  The following day on November 2nd, we remember all the souls of our family and friends and faithfully departed on ALL SOUL’s Day. Yet, we remember in comfort and joy, knowing that God has promised His gift of eternal salvation and His warm loving embrace through heaven.  We will also be initiating some special spirit days this month to help celebrate Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness, Mental Health Awareness and Anti-Bullying  Stay tuned for more details on that.

Wheww, that’s it for now Hurricanes!  But one last message, and that’s to invite each of you to continue being kind to yourselves, to one another and to always try and be BE-THE-CHANGE or to BE-THE-LIGHT we so desperately need in our world!  You see, LIFE IS AMAZING BUT MANY ARE NOT HAPPY.    Life is hard as it is, but Ralph Waldo Emmerson shares it best when he said “one life made easier by your presence, is a SUCCESS!”  Moreover, in our sometimes negative world, we can all attest that we all have flaws, yet we’ve become conditioned to see and judge the flaws of others, before we’re ready to look at our own.  Just remember, that when you point a finger at someone else, there are always 3-fingers curling back and pointing at you.  Moreover like icebergs, you really never know what someone else is going through as what we see is only the tip or at the surface!”  Therefore, every time you look into someone eyes, SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, RATHER THAN BE UNDERSTOOD, and see Christ in everyone you meet.  It sure isn’t easy, and certainly sometimes counter-cultural - but it’s the right way to live and to be…

Take care of yourselves and each other Hurricanes, have a S-P-O-O-K-tacular weekend everyone!
