Happy Saturday you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!

Congratulations, we made it through week #2!  We trust that we're all feeling like we're getting into a bit of a groove and routine.  With that said, there are many events and activities on the horizon - so please keep checking your email blasts or visiting our Twitter and Facebook pages for all kinds of news and updates!

Please find attached our Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter for September 18th - 22nd, 2023.

An important reminder that Monday, September 18th is a PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY DAY. There is no school for students. Staff will be involved in Professional Development, including understanding the new literacy curriculum aimed at ensuring equitable tier 1 supports and instructions for "all" students.

Please help support our Terry Fox Campaign.  A link has been established for families to be able to donate online for Cancer Research.  Our walk is scheduled for Friday, September 29th @ 11:10am.  Students and staff are invited to wear RED and WHITE that day to celebrate a great Canadian role model!  Terry's life is a beautiful example to our young people, of how we can make a difference in this world, even with the challenges in life that we encounter.  When life is easy or goes our way, it's like riding in a "limousine."  That's easy...  However, when life throws us a curveball, it's like getting on the "bus!"  And more often than not, there are too many times in our lives where we get stuck riding on the "bitter bus!"  That's a different story... Terry's example through the Marathon of Hope, showed us how to get off that bitter bus and to use our strengths and talents to do the best we can do with any given situation.  On that note, we are also introducing or reintroducing THE UMBRELLA PROJECT to our students.  Please watch the linked video in this week's newsletter to understand the analogy of the "rain" in our lives and the purpose of the "umbrella."  Very similar to the limousine and the bus example, the learning helps us to be better able to cope, adapt and most importantly, thrive in a world that will not always be easy or stress free.

Just remember Hurricanes, whatever we go through, "we GROW through together!  Take care of yourselves and each other!   Thank you for all your support and encouragement the past two weeks, it's because of your help, positivity and kindness our children can continue to thrive.  We're on the bus together, let's have some fun with it!!

Have a great weekend!
