Final Hurricane "WEEKLY" Newsletter for June 26th - 30th, 2023

Dear A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!

5 more days and we finish and celebrate our 2022-2023 school year!  It’s the F-I-N-A-L COUNTDOWN!

Please find attached our FINAL Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter for 2022-2023.

As everyone knows, this was our first year back to normal following some really big challenges over the past few years.  What else can we say? We are so proud of each and everyone of you, especially our STAFF and our STUDENTS for continuing to stick together and always showing that #weCAN and #weCARE; with strong academics, important fundraisers like Terry Fox, meaningful Social Justice Projects like St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Drive and Raising Goodness Day, Faith celebrations like our 1st ever FAITH DAY, school activities such as our H.T. FAMILY DAY, welcoming guest speakers like Errol Lee and Q-Mack, fun field trips, extracurricular activities and so much more.  We’ve proven to each other and to the world, that a family that works and prays together, can overcome any challenge and do great things!  Throughout it all, thank you for “being the light” and raising each other up Hurricanes – what a testament to our great school community!

We wish to give our Catholic School Council a big HIGH-5!  Our C.S.C. is a dedicated group of parents who volunteer their time to meet each month to discuss and advise ways to make our school even better.  And moreover, we extend gratitude to all of our parents who showed tremendous generosity of spirit to help out on a field trip, flip some pancakes, applaud our students at a presentation at the school and most importantly, give us their TOTAL SUPPORT – THANK YOU!  Don’t ever underestimate how much “all the little things add up” to make our school the best it can possibly be!

We also know that there is always one constant thing in life, and that’s “change!”  Change can be scary, uncomfortable or a lot of work, but we also know that with a positive attitude – new opportunities can bring great learning and growth!  On that note, we really want to give a B-I-G Hurricane shoutout to Mrs. Smith, who will be venturing off to St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Fergus to share her gifts and talents as their new VP.   Thank you for your tireless commitment and energy over the past year Mrs. Smith, you are a Hurricane-4-Life and you made-a-HUGE-difference #weCELEBRATE!  We also have another Master Jedi taking on a new chapter in her life.  #weCELEBRATE Mrs. Pizziola who will be enjoying retirement after a fantastic career!  She is definitely “one of the best” and we wish her much health and happiness.  #weCELEBRATE Mrs. Borghese who will becoming a St. Patrick Patriot down the road beginning in September, they will love you there and we will miss you!  #weCELEBRATE and wish these all-stars including Mrs. Seelal, the very best as she joins the St. John Wildcat Community, Mr. Stafford who joins the St. Michael Stinger Community, Jodi McBain who joins the St. Peter Saints community and Christina Mueller (E.C.E.) and Holli Gazzola (C.Y.W.) who join the Sacred Heart Flames Community.  Best wishes also to Mrs. Story who will be using her amazing strengths and talents to serve as a Literacy Lead in our school board. #weCELEBRATE and will miss Mrs. Sanvido (E.A.) who is also enjoying her retirement, congratulations!  Finally, we couldn't have done it without our occasional staff who quickly stepped in and stepped up everyday for kids and our school, best wishes to Mrs. Andovski (E.C.E.), Peter Bassa (E.A.) and educators Sara DiCarlo, Cali Doran, Stephanie Benninger and Kayla Cookson!  You are all beautiful educators!  But remember everyone, we never say goodbye, it’s “until we meet again!”

Wishing everyone a very happy and blessed summer, and remember to NEVER GIVE UP, always ENCOURAGE OTHERS and DO YOUR BEST no matter where you go or what you do.  Keep asking God to guide you every day and to give you the courage to believe you “CAN” do great things, the bravery to “CARE” about others and the world, and to always “CELEBRATE” life with a so beautiful, rather than a so what attitude!  If you walk through ‘closed’ doors with this attitude, many more ‘new’ and exciting doors will open up for you!  So choose COURAGE over COMFORT, but most of all – choose kindness and choose God, they will never lead you astray!

All our best in 2023-2024 Hurricanes, take care of yourselves and each other! Have a wonderful summer!
