Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter for December 19th - 22nd, 2022

Happy Saturday you AWESOME Hurricanes!

Here comes the final s - t - r - e - t - c - h before the Christmas Holidays!  Do you think the children are excited?

Please find the LINK for our Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter "attached below" for updates, news and events for next week - December 19th - 22nd, 2022.

We are down to the last 4 days of our 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS.  Please see the "attachment below" for the themes and activities for the last 4 days of school.  CRAFT DAY will also take place on Monday, December 19th as it was rescheduled from last week.  Hope everyone has been having fun through it all!

Despite all the fun Christmas activities and balancing that with curriculum demands, our Hurricane staff have done a brilliant job illuminating our FAITH through it all, whether in the children's school work, in our Christmas Concert, through displays and activities, through prayer everyday or through our Hamper Drive; we've reminded each other daily, of the true meaning of Christmas, which is ADVENT.  Advent means "waiting, coming or expectation."  But what are we waiting for?  A new iphone, new shoes, that one thing we just need that will make us happy, finally?  Absolutely not, because we've learned all those things are temporary and only make us happy until we want the next thing.  We know God sends us His greatest gift, as a promise of his love and gift of salvation for each and every one of us... J-E-S-U-S.  But also all those other gifts that surround us daily that we forget - food, family, the opportunity to get an education, work, shoes, electricity, clean drinking water and the list goes on and on!  So let's keep celebrating -families are welcome to join us for our 4th and final Advent Liturgy celebration on Tuesday, December 20th @ 9:15am.  Mrs. Stevens Grade 5 class will light the 4th and final candle, completing our final step in preparation for the coming of Jesus - " the light of the world" who brings PEACE, HOPE, LOVE and JOY!

Finally dear Hurricanes, also know that holidays and transitions "out of" or "back to" school can create a break in routine for our children and for some families, increased anxieties, unknowns and worries.  Please find some literature "attached below" for supports for WELLBEING OVER THE HOLIDAYS and do not hesitate to reach out if you need something.

Most of all, Jesus invites us to "be light for others" as he needs us to be his head, heart and hands to continue carrying out his teachings and his work.  Thanks to  all of you, for bringing light into our community and for each other.  Your support, positivity and patience never goes unnoticed and truly MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE, especially for the benefit of our young people and in creating a safe and welcoming tone in our school.

Have a great weekend!  Take care of yourselves and each other :)
