LABOUR UPDATE

CUPE and the Province will be engaging in negotiations this weekend in an effort to reach an agreement and avert strike action next week.  They will conclude negotiations by Sunday at 5:00 p.m. so that parents can prepare for any outcome.  We will share any information provided throughout the weekend to assist with your planning next week

As communicated previously, in the event of a strike, all Wellington Catholic DSB schools will be open on Monday. If the strike were to continue beyond Monday, all CUPE-staffed schools (i.e., all Wellington Catholic DSB schools in Guelph, Erin, and Rockwood) will transition to remote learning beginning on Tuesday due to the operational challenges of keeping our safe and healthy to the required levels through ongoing labour disruptions. St. John Bosco and Wellington Catholic DSB schools in Elora, Fergus, Arthur and Mount Forest will not be impacted.

Updates on this labour disruption will be provided on Sunday and Monday, as required, through our e-mail, our board website and social media. For labour updates, please see: https://www.wellingtoncdsb.ca/apps/pages/labour

FINAL WORD

Many of us continued to be worried about our children and how all of these changes in our society are having an impact on their academics and progress in school.  And without a doubt, it is concerning.  However, if you surveyed parents on what they would want most for their children in life, most would not say grades, achievement, fame, fortune or performance.  Many would likely respond with HEALTH, HAPPINESS, BALANCE, PURPOSE, SAFETY, RELATIONSHIPS, FAMILY, LOVE and CONTENTMENT.  Let us remember this, as we continue to move forward through these rapidly-changing times.  Our young people need our calm, care and co-regulation now, more than ever.

With that said, we are so proud of our staff, students and parents at H.T., who continue to take care of one another, do amazing things and ensure we continue to move forward with a #weCARE attitude!  Have a wonderful weekend, hope it is a restorative one for each of you.  And get ready for some snow!!

Take care Hurricanes...
