Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter November 14-18, 2022 - JUST RELEASED!

Good afternoon you amazing Hurricanes!

Please find attached, our Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter for November 14 - 18, 2022.

Can you believe we are already at the midpoint of November!?

We are grateful for all the great stuff happening at Holy Trinity and within Wellington Catholic!  Remember it all starts with "WE!"  Here's a summary of what's happening and what's coming up;

  • today we celebrated Remembrance Day with a beautifully led ceremony and reflection by Mr. Kelly and Mrs. McBain's students.  Simply outstanding Hurricanes.  Visit our social media for some photos and videos of our Hurricanes honouring all those who helped make this country a wonderful place to live!  Also a big shout-out to Mrs. Gibson and the members of our choir who helped lead a respectful tribute by singing O' Canada.  Thank you to all of our Hurricane families for your generous Poppy Trust fund donations!
  • thank you to everyone who were able to come out to our Parent-Educator Conferences last night.  And thank you to our student leaders and timers for helping with the evening, you did a fabulous job!  If you couldn't make it out, no worries, don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher for another opportunity.
  • the St. James Family of Schools, and there are 10 of them, invite you to a "Let's Talk About Diversity Night" hosted by Sacred Heart Rockwood on November 30th from 6-7:30pm.  Can't make it 'in-person'?  No worries, you can also attend 'virtually'.  Either way, please see the attached information poster as pre-registration is required.  Childcare is available. A great evening to see what our students are learning about DIVERSITY, EQUITY and INCLUSION.  Hoping to see many Hurricanes there!
  • Holy Trinity Catholic School Council has brought back the "Winter Market!"  Join us on Saturday, November 19th from 12-4pm in the gymnasium at Holy Trinity.  Many vendors will be onsite and this is a great opportunity to get some early Christmas shopping done!  See the attached information poster.
  •  all of our grade 1 -5 students have received 4 learning sessions from our community partners, John Howard Society about healthy, proactive and preventative strategies to deal with bullying, problems and friendship challenges.  They will receive their 5th and final session next week and we are so proud of their bravery to participate in this important learning, for SCHOOL and for LIFE!  Beginning next week, all of our grade 6-8 students will receive 5 sessions of their own!  On November 24th, we have our next guest speaker, Errol Lee, who will teach us the real meaning of RESPECT, KINDNESS and SOCIAL JUSTICE through song, dance and sign language.  It will be a nice celebration of our work as a family to always make everyone feel like SOMEBODY!  We will also be handing out birthday prizes that week to every student and staff at Holy Trinity, to remind them that they were a miracle at birth and that God created each of us with a special purpose and His love in mind.  What are they?  All we can say, is that "they'll knock your socks off!"
  • Finally next week, we will be conducting STAFF AND STUDENT VOICE sessions as part of our goal to create a warm, welcoming and positive school culture.  Students and staff will be invited to meet with administration, in small groups to share what they feel are the strengths of H.T, and what we can do to make our community an even better place to laugh, learn and grow.
That's it for now, and phew!!!  As always Hurricanes, thank you for the privilege of allowing us to serve your families and your awesome children.  Remember, no one is perfect, nor is our school-community perfect.  But we can always be perfect in our love, in our courage to raise each other up and to be the very best we can be - with what we've got.

We continue to pray for any loved ones that you have lost, or are dealing with hardships this month of Remembrance.  Please continue to pray for our staff and our young people, as we continue to navigate what seems to be an ever-changing landscape in our society and in our world.  Pray to God to remind us that light always shines through the cracks, and goodness always triumphs...  Regardless, together and through Christ, all things are possible!

Take care of yourselves and each other Hurricanes!
