Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter September 26th-30th - JUST RELEASED!

Good morning and Happy Saturday you awesome Hurricanes!

It was a great week #3 that culminated on Friday with a very emotional, informative and inspiring Terry Fox Assembly led by Ms. Precious and Mrs. Newell's students!  Super job Hurricanes!   Our community walk was a great time to remember what Terry did for the fight against cancer and it was also a nice way for staff and students to spend time together and enjoy the beautiful fall weather and colours!  Thank you for your generosity as we have raised over $2000!  WOW! Final donations can still be made this weekend @ https://schools.terryfox.ca/HolyTrinityCSGuelph

Next week is going to be a busy week!  On Tuesday, we welcome Father Valentine for the first time, to celebrate our first mass of the school year welcoming everyone back!  On Wednesday, we welcome Indigenous advocate, speaker and friend, Q-Mack. He will help us learn the true meaning of Orange Shirt Day at a school-wide assembly.  Subject matter will include: Residential Schools, Truth, Reconciliation, and Healing, Being Proud Of Your Heritage and Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. On Thursday, hopefully you've heard about our Open House taking place from 4:30-7pm.  Classroom visits are from 5:30-6:30pm.  Please be mindful of that so our staff can grab a bite to eat from the food trucks on site and be able to interact with our school community and some of the other events happening around the school.  Also on Thursday, our Cross-Country runners will travel to Bishop Mac High School to participate in the WCDSB event.  It's always a great day for friendly competition, fresh air and lots of fun!  A schedule of races is attached to this email for your reference.  Finally, on Friday, we invite all of our Hurricane staff and students to wear as much ORANGE as possible as an "outward" visible sign of our support for National Truth & Reconciliation Day!

Phew, that's alot!  But good things are happening at Hurricane Country because of the collective spirit, strengths and generosity of our families, staff and students.  It's not your school, it's not my school, it's OUR school!  Let's keep working together to keep it the safe, welcoming and engaging place it is for our young people to laugh, learn and grow.  And, don't forget to help our children prepare each day with the variable weather we often experience during the autumn season.

Have a fabulous weekend Hurricanes!  We are grateful for all of you and this amazing school community!
