Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) has been awarded the 2025 Cybercrime & Digital Safety Initiative Award for the comprehensive cyber safety presentation delivered to students of Wellington Catholic DSB and Upper Grand DSB.

The award recognizes a Crime Stoppers program that has demonstrated leadership in tackling online crime, fraud, and digital threats through innovative education and prevention initiatives.

The interactive presentation was delivered to more than 8,000 students in grades 6-12 from September 2024 to June 2025. Students were cautioned on the impact of their cyber footprint and to only accept friend requests from people they know in real life. Additionally, the presentation urged students to utilize privacy settings to protect themselves and those who follow them.

“Digital safety is an essential part of student well-being. This initiative has significantly enhanced our students' understanding of cyber crime and equipped them with the tools they need to navigate online spaces confidently and responsibly," said Sony Brar, Mental Health Lead and Senior Manager of Student Mental Health Services at WCDSB. "We are proud to champion initiatives that prioritize education and student mental health, and we’re especially grateful to Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington for creating, piloting, and expanding this innovative program within our community."

Congratulations to CSGW on this great achievement!
