Here we are, we've rounded third base and headed home, literally! Because next Thursday, June 25th is the last day of school and everyone will off-and-runnin' to their holidays, we'll make this our final WEEKLY Newsletter for the 2025-2026 school-year, therefore, we'll take this opportunity now to thank all of you for being the B-E-S-T school community ever! Thank you for your patience, volunteering, support and most importantly, enCOURAGEment! When the school + families + parish work together = MAGIC HAPPENS! You can feel it and see it through the happiness, engagement and energy of the children! Never underestimate the power of together! Thank you Hurricanes!

10 YEARS GOES BY FAST!!!
We had a wonderful graduation celebration last night for our Class of 2026! The celebration began at St. John the Baptist Parish with a liturgy, followed by awards and speeches. A special shoutout to Mr. and Mrs. Stafford for their sincere and hilarious parent-voice, Wes and Alfonso for their super valedictory address and Father Valentine for reminding our graduates "to continue to be the salt of the earth and light of the world" wherever they go, taking all that they learned from Holy Trinity and spreading it out with LOVE and P-R-I-D-E! The night then shifted back to the school, where we watched a tear-jerking video of the students growing up from their early years in kindergarten, to their final days at H.T. It felt like a "blink-of-an-eye!" Lots of treats and drinks were enjoyed by all. We really want to thank the grade 7 families for the very donation of treats, and it was soooooo cool to have grade 7 students volunteer to help out that evening. The gym was converted into a beautiful ocean and "under the sea" spectacle thanks to Mrs. Melehes, Mrs. Jackett, Mrs. Picanco and so many student volunteers! We then asked the parents to "skidattle" away so the grade 8s could finish out their magical evening and enjoy their dance-party! Overall, it was a tremendous success and none-of-it would have been possible without all of the hardwork and dedication of our Intermediate superstar staff - thank you Mr. Gibson, Mrs. Karl and Mr. DiBattista! As our Valedictorians Wes and Alfonso shared, "we're simply just getting off one heck of a roller-coaster ride, but getting onto another exciting one!" Best wishes Class of 2026, KEEP SHINING YOUR LIGHT, we are sooo proud of you!
TERM 2 REPORT CARDS: IMPORTANT UPDATE!
The ministry of education released a memo recently to inform school boards that, beginning with the June 2026 reporting period, elementary schools are required to distribute paper-based end-of-term report cards for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 for the January/February and June reporting periods.
Providing paper report cards will help ensure that all parents/guardians have direct access to information about their child’s progress and achievement. Where electronic distribution of report cards is currently in place, boards should continue those practices alongside the paper copies.
Therefore on Tuesday, June 23rd, please check your email inboxes for electronic versions of your child's Term 2 Report Cards for Grades 1 - 8, and Communication of Learning for Kindergarten. In addition, we will also be sending these reports in paper format to your children to bring home.
RINGING-OF-THE-BELL FINAL DAY DISMISSAL!
On the final day of school Thursday, June 25, we will be gathering outside at the back of our school, for the 2nd annual RINGING-OF-THE-BELL ceremony. It's an early day Canada Day celebration, more importantly, we will be dismissing our students from here. Families are invited to join our party beginning at 2:45pm. (WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND WALKING TO SCHOOL AS PARKING IS LIMITED) We will celebrate by singing O'Canada, share some important historical facts about Canada, laugh at some jokes, and we'll take a rooftop photo with everyone. Finally, we'll give the honour of ringing the bell for dismissal to Mrs. Henry, who will be enjoying her retirement after her beautiful service and wonderful career at Wellington Catholic! Don't forget to wear RED and white or anything Canada!
END OF YEAR COMMUNICATION FROM WELLINGTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Be sure to keep checking your email inboxes throughout the summer for communication from our school board. In fact, early next week they will be sending out their community newsletters to all Wellington Catholic families. Among other things, included in the communications will be reminders to staff and families about the start of the year (e.g. first day of school, PD day reminders, etc.), mental health supports through the summer, updates from the board, etc. Be sure look out for that! Really important information to peruse.
YEARBOOKS ARE OUT!
We really want to thank our yearbook team of Ms. Petryna, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Bendo, Mrs. Karl and Mrs. Silva for all their work coordinating all the photos and events to capture so beautifully, our 2025-2026 school year! Great job ladies! Moreover, we are so impressed with all of the yearbook cover submissions we received this year. We especially want to give our congratulations to Grade 8 student Mila G. and Grade 7 student Nftaliem G. for creating the FRONT and BACK covers respectively. The creativity and talent is simply o-u-t-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g!

CALLING ALL MOMS TO JOIN!
The Guelph Catholic Moms Group Ministry continues over the summer months, and their wishing for as many Hurricane moms to come out and join. The next meeting takes place Wednesday, July 8th from 4:30pm - 6:00pm (Use Rear Entrance) at St. John the Baptist (45 Victoria Rd. North, Guelph). LAST CALL FOR ST. JOHN PARISH SUMMER CAMP
Dive right into this year’s Vacation Bible School, being held at St. John Church the week of July 13. The cost for a half day is $50 for the week – that’s $10 a day. If you would like to attend the full week, it will cost $100. There will be crafts, Bible stories, games, delicious snacks, and free pizza on the last day. Only 12 spots left. Pick up a registration form at the school or parish office. Friday is the last day to register. We look forward to seeing you there.
CHILDREN'S NATURE PROGRAM
The Ignatius Jesuit Centre are offering a new children's nature program this summer called The Great Family of Earth for children ages 6–8. Inspired by the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, the program invites children to explore the natural world through outdoor activities that foster curiosity, attentiveness, friendship, and care for creation.
