Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter for May 27th - 31st, 2024

Good morning and Happy Saturday you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!

Please find attached our Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter for May 27th – 31st, 2024, the final week of May before we hit June and the final month of school for the 2023-2024 school year!  Why is this year going by so quickly!?

Thank you to Mr. DiBattista, Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Karl and Mr. Luzi for organizing and supervising this year’s three day graduation year-end trip in Ottawa this past week!  The trip was a terrific success!  Our grade 8 students were fantastic ambassadors for our school and learned so much about Canadian government, geography, history and art through this experience!  In fact, many folks commented on how well-behaved, well-mannered and joyful our students were while on the trip!  Bravo Hurricanes!  We hope you created memories that will last a lifetime and hopefully it was a good way to celebrate your many years together!  Best wishes on your graduation on Thursday, June 20th!

Speaking of celebrating, don’t forget to mark your calendars to celebrate our 20th Anniversary “Backyard Fun” FAMILY-FUN-NIGHT on June 25th from 4:30-7pm!  A special shoutout again to our sponsors KUMON Math & Reading Center on Grange & Victoria Plaza, ANGELIC TREASURES CHRISTIAN DAYCARE, (The Mortgage Ctr), INFINITY CONCRETE & CONSTRUCTION, STARWOOD & WESTWOOD DENTAL, CROZIER CONSULTING INC., and OPTOMETRIST Dr Thadshika Parthipan & ASSOCIATES for sponsoring the many planned activities to keep costs down for our families and make this a fun event for all!  So bring you blankets and lawn chairs, stay for a while and let’s celebrate 20-YEARS-STRONG and many more bright years to come!

Families are welcome to join us on Monday, May 27th @ 9:15am for our May Crowning Liturgy, honouring Mary the Mother of Jesus.  Mary’s example of devotion to God and her example of motherhood “teaches us to trust God even when all hope seems gone.”  Students will be sharing flowers in her honour, so if you would like your child to bring flowers to the school – you are welcome to do so.  Thank you to Mr. Plat’s class for leading this important Faith Celebration in the life of our church!

On Thursday May 30th at 6:15pm, we will be welcoming our “newest” Hurricane students to an Full Day Kindergarten “Ready-for-School and Orientation Night.”  These are our newest Year 1/Junior Kindergarten students who will be starting their educational career beginning in September 2024.  We have over 50 new children joining our Hurricane families and over 100 family members attending this evening!  Thank you to our Kindergarten and support staff for making the time to welcome these families and help these young people begin to love their school! #weCARE #weCELEBRATE

As we shared with the students during our announcements the other day, the most important part of a race is not how well we start, but in how strong #weCAN F-I-N-I-S-H!  We had a wonderful start to our school year during our “SNEAK-PEEK-WEEK” in August which seemed like yesterday!  We’ve had so many events, gatherings and learnings throughout the year.  However, we need to finish strong giving it our best, making sure every feels safe and like they belong, and of course, keep taking care of ourselves and EACH OTHER!  With that said, let’s keep GOING BIG and using that special FORCE that God puts within each and everyone of us!  In the H.T. house, we are as strong as a wookie, as daring as Han Solo, we have the courage of OBI-WAN, the wisdom of YODA, as brave as SKYWAKER and as fearless as PRINCESS LEIA!  May the force be with you Hurricanes!  June….BRING IT ON!
