Hurricane 'WEEKLY' Newsletter for February 19th - 23rd, 2024

Happy Friday you A-W-E-S-O-M-E Hurricanes!

Please find attached, our Hurricane WEEKLY Newsletter for February 19th – 23rd, 2024.

Thanks for everyone’s support of our Chocolate Bar Fundraiser!  We did both our Early Bird and 1st Weekly Draw this week to thank our students for their support.  Our next weekly draw takes place on Friday, February 23rd, so this long Family Day weekend is a perfect time to try and sell to family and friends!  Our campaign ends on Monday, February 26thA reminder that we cannot return opened boxes!   Thanks again Hurricanes, we really appreciate everyone's support!

Please see the attached pamphlet from The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), they need help naming Canada’s future police dogs.  Each year, the Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail, Alberta looks for new and creative names that their dogs can wear with pride while serving Canadian communities. This annual contest invites kids between the ages of 4 to 14 years old to submit name suggestions. This year, the names need to start with the letter “T”.   Get involved Hurricanes, let’s see some of that creativity!

We began our Lenten journey this week, with our school Mass celebration this past Ash Wednesday, February 14th.  Father Valentine delivered a beautiful homily and reminded our staff and students about the importance of PRAYING, GIVING ALMS and FASTING over the next 40 days leading up to Easter.  By allowing God a little more into our lives, by reducing the dependance of certain things in our lives, and by being a little less rude and more kind to others each day – all of these are SIMPLE but great ways to show love and thank God for loving us so much.  It's been said, that "all those who live in love, live in God..."  Moving forward, we invite each of our Hurricane families to consider something they can do as a family, to show more love for each other and for God in their lives.

And on that note, we wish everyone a fabulous Family Day Holiday on Monday, February 19th.   It’s been a busy February indeed, with much more coming up on the horizon, so we hope everyone gets some well-deserved rest this long weekend!  Have a good one Hurricanes, and as always, take care of yourselves and each other!
